For this assignment, we had to take eight pictures that demonstrated shallow depth of field. Shallow depth of field is where only part of the picture is in focus, usually the foreground or subject. This effect can be achieved by a large aperture. We were also supposed to give our zoom and aperture settings, and say approximately how far away we were from the subject.
For this assignment, we learned about commercial photography, and what we had to do to make our pictures look like the the ones you find in magazine adds. Of course, we're not that good, but with the tips and tricks we learned I was able to get some pretty nice pictures!
This is a very short little animated video I made. Videos that repeat over and over again in an endless loop like this are called GIF's. I made this with clay and a book, using the 3 dimensional animation technique of stop motion. The poor little guy just wants to read!
In this assignment, we had to practice editing the photos that we took. Even the best image can be fudged a little in Photoshop. Instead of using Photoshop I used a similar program called Pixlr, which has many of the same capabilities.
For this assignment, we had to go around our house or neighborhood, and find things that had an interesting texture, then photograph them up close to capture that texture. doing this can make an ordinary object like a hair-brush look extraordinary!
